Here's my question: on M Street SW/Maine SW near L'Enfant Promenade:
When people are crossing M/Maine near the overpass, according to paragraph 6, this is legal and they must yield. However, if traffic is already stopped due to the light and the pedestrian has begun weaving his/her way through traffic, then traffic begins to move, should the vehicles in traffic remain until the pedestrian clears the lane or proceed with traffic? Said pedestrian called me a very rude word today for attempting to allow him safe passage. Please advise.

Unlike deer or foxes, pet cats are not wild animals, and thus are not comparable. If they are, you should have no problem with me letting my Great Dane take a dump in your yard because a fox or raccoon might do that too. Perhaps we should allow dogs to roam free too, since its just nature and evolution at work when they attack people and ruin property.

Cats should have to be confined on their owner's property like every other pet in existence. Why stupid cat owners think "well, my cat can climb my fence lolz" is good reasoning for being able to let their pets roam off their property is beyond me. That wouldn't work with bird or gecko owners, so it shouldn't work with cat eithers. Keep your cat indoors, on a leash or behind a cat-proof fence (yes, they do make them).

Re: the Write Stuff's inquiry today, you might suggest she look into virtual freelance work. One network I belong to, www.elance.com, would give her a chance to specify what projects she's like to scout and then compete for paying assignments to build up a portfolio. Just a thought.

Bravo! Given the rude and excessive use of these now year-around noisebazookas in DC and Montgomery County, the only way to have some peace in our neighborhoods is this ban. With kids unable to nap, families unable to sit and play outside, and people unable to work from home, jurisdictions all over the country are already taking the same step to bring an end to this nuisance. One would think that landscapers would save money on equipment, gas, and earplugs by simply offering a rake and broom service after mowing someone's yard...just as fast, cheaper, and more neighborly. Who needs a bellowing high powered gas blower to clean a few grass clips off a sidewalk anyway?!

Yes, I thought so too, and that was the first thing we tried. But the keys were too small --and on-screen keys don't give any tactile feedback-- and so she hit the wrong keys over half the time she tried. Then we ordered her a special keyboard for low vision users, and a gigantic monitor, so that we could make the font really big and still have everything fit on a single screen. If you make the font super-big on an iPad, you can only see a few words on a line.

I know that most of those teens want to go because they want to enjoy new experiences but aside from that the most important thing is that they will learn more than what they expect.
