Christine O'Donnell Watch: Her Mistake, Not Going for Frequent Flyer Miles

Because we don't have representation in Congress, it's only fair that we get to choose a nearby Congressional race to report on. We have adopted the United States Senate race in Delaware starring Christine O'Donnell, the Republican nominee and Tea Party candidate. O'Donnell, who has the full support of her party, is worth keeping an eye on: Though O'Donnell's prospects are dim, the unexpected can happen in American politics. Her views are extreme and her background is complicated and unclear.

If you've been following the news about the Republican candidate for United States Senate, you know that she's been mostly unemployed for the past five years. What is becoming more and more apparent is the Christine O'Donnell lived off of her campaign contributions, and filed false statements about that. Forms filed with the Federal Election Commission clearly show that she used campaign funds to pay for personal things such as rent, gas, travel (visiting a friend in Texas), and restaurant meals. The non-partisan watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washingtonused the word "embezzling" to describe her activity. O'Donnell used her campaign funds for personal expenses in 2009, when she wasn't a candidate for anything.

CREW's executive director, Melanie Sloan, said, "If you need money to pay the rent and eat, you get a job; you don't start a Senate campaign so unsuspecting donors can support you." All of this could be said to be a campaign by the liberal media to discredit O'Donnell, but if you think so, just take a look at the documents and evidence (link opens as a PDF) that point to illegal activity.

All of this raises important questions about O'Donnell's fitness for elected office, including: How smart can she be if she writes checks, instead of using credit cards which would at least get her frequent flyer miles for her purchases?

  1. Well, Check this for "non-partizan" CREW, http://joshuapundit.blogspot.com/2010/09/soros-sics-one-of-his-front-groups-on.html

  2. CREW reports factually on corruption in government. They've gone after Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY), for example, and have him on their "Most Corrupt" list.

Facts are facts, and the evidence shows that Christine O'Donnell used campaign funds for personal purposes, lied on Federal Election Commission reports, and falsely reported to the IRS.

I looked at the posted copies of O'Donnell's documents at http://www.citizensforethics.org/files/O'Donnell%20Exhibits.pdf. I don't see a way out for her. It's clear that she's going to be in a lot of legal trouble.
