How to Use a Fire Extinguisher

The question was recently posed on the Cleveland Park Listserv:  How do you use a fire extinguisher?  We thought that it would be useful to present this short video on how to use a fire extinguisher. But before you use one, make sure your fire extinguisher is in good working condition. Fire extinguishers are for small fires before they become big fires or spread. When you have a fire, call 911 right away: Fires can get out of control quickly. And remember: people come before property. You can replace physical objects, but not a life.

You can also learn more about emergency preparedness and get trained to respond in a emergency through DC's  Community Emergency Response Team program. To schedule a free home fire safety inspection, visit the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services website. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services' website is filled with useful information that could save your life, including how to get a free smoke detector and where to get free CPR training.
