Frito-Lay SunChips Recalled, But Not For the Usual Reason

This has to be the strangest recall in American history. And the history of the world. And for all time, too.

Frito-Lay SunChips have been recalled because they're too noisy. It's not the chips, actually, but the bag that's louder than you can possibly imagine. Frito-Lay tried to do the right thing by creating a completely biodegradable bag made of plant-based material. But who knew that plants could be so loud? I have a few house plants and they're the quietest things in my house. These bags are so loud, that Frito-Lay reports an 11 percent drop in the sale of SunChips. Yes, really. Watch this video and you'll see, um hear for yourself:

  1. Too bad that it didn't include a recall on leaf blowers.

  2. Not to worry our 100% compostable bag is not going away. We're committed to renewable packaging solutions and will continue to use 100% compostable packaging on specially-marked Original flavor SunChips® snacks. In the meantime we're busy working on the next-generation bag that addresses consumer feedback, so stay tuned.

  3. It's purpose is to promote the green movement and help people have an easier time making the right decisions. You can bring a mule to water, but you can't make him drink.

  5. How sad is this....the Today Show ran a piece on this. Can someone please tell me why this is a news story. What difference does it make if the SunChip bag makes noise, are these people eating SunChips in bed?
