One constant through the decades is drug awareness education in schools. There's a professional who makes the rounds in the area's private schools, teaching and lecturing about drugs and alcohol. For reasons that will become apparent in a moment, I'm leaving her name out of this story. Kids report that she's "not bad," which to me means that drug education has advanced considerably since the horrors of marijuana were explained to me when I was in school.
The kids call her "The Drug Lady," which isn't a bad nickname as far as kids go.
Except. Except that once one kid saw her at National Airport. He was excited to see her out of a school setting and said in a booming voice, "There's the drug lady!"
Not the kind of thing that one should say at an airport with lots of police around. Fortunately, the confusion was cleared up relatively quickly.
