Rats in DC Sewers

This report isn't for the squeamish. Or for the non-squeamish for that matter. There was a report Saturday of a rat entering a Shepherd Park home through the sewer. Ewww.  Here's the report as posted on the Shepherd Park Listserv:

On Saturday, November 13th, I had a dead rat floating in my basement toilet.  This rat had to swim from the sewer line to the toilet but could not get out of the toilet bowl and died.  I reported this problem to WASA today and hopefully they will be able to exterminate the sewer line from the street.

  1. I just found the same thing in Bethesda, MD. A horrible thing to find. Thank goodness it was dead. I hope it arrived this way. I contacted WCCS.
