Celebrate 2011, WAMU 88.5's 50th anniversary year and Rob Bamberger's 30th anniversary as host of Hot Jazz Saturday Night, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C., on New Year's Eve. It'll be a festive evening, featuring the live music of Barbara Rosene and Her New Yorkers, who'll play many of the danceable tunes from the '20s - '40s that you hear on Hot Jazz Saturday Night.
If you like to swing dance, or do the Charleston or Lindy Hop, the Omni Shoreham is definitely where you'll want to be this New Year's Eve. If you need a lesson, don't worry -- dance instructors will be on hand to teach all of the “hot jazz” styles. There also will be a full buffet, libations, and a midnight toast to Auld Lang Syne. And because our hosts can't resist a great party, familiar WAMU 88.5 names will celebrate alongside you on New Year's Eve, such as Diane Rehm, and Kojo Nnamdi!
You'll be part of the first live New Year's Eve broadcast from outside our studios in the station's history. So come, raise a glass with us on New Year's Eve!
