Arts, Books, Plays and More at Iona Senior Services in Tenleytown

The Iona House Senior Services Center is offering a variety of free or low-cost events in February and March.  Here are some highlights.

Thursday, February 17, 5-8 pm:  Meet the Artists Reception.  Meet Iona's artist-in-residence Liz Wolf and special guest artist Hermann Burger. Cool art, music, wine, and hors d'oeuvres.

Monday, February 28, 7 pm: Play Reading. Molly Schuchat will present her new play, Frances Perkins: The Road to the Cabinet, about the life and times of the first female cabinet member, Frances Perkins, who was President Roosevelt's Secretary of Labor. Directed by Laura Gianarelli.  Suggested donation: $3.

Mondays, March 7 – April 4, 10-11 am: Memory Fitness Workshop. Five-part series on memory fitness with resources and techniques to keep your memory sharp. Fee: $60 for the series (limited scholarships available). Please note:  This group is not intended for individuals who have a medical diagnosis of memory impairment.

Tuesday, March 29, 10 am – 12 pm: Take Charge/Age Well Book Group.  The group will discuss books that creatively explore the positive aspects of aging and inform us with ways to live later life to our full potential. The first book to be discussed will be Composing a Further Life by Mary Catherine Bateson.
