March 6: 5K Race & Community Walk for Health in Woodley Park

The 5K Race and Community Walk for Health (also known as VAMOS!) is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 6 in Woodley Park.  The race begins and ends at Oyster School.  The early bird registration deadline is this Saturday, February 19, so register at the lower rate, and get ready to run!

Why?

First, this race is a lot of fun. All are welcomed and encouraged, whether you are a serious, competitive runner or someone who just wants to get out one morning and enjoy a hint of spring in the air. VAMOS! is a USATF-certified course with ChronoTrack timing, age-group awards, and race T-shirts for all who participate.

Second, this race supports local schools. The three DCPS or public charter schools with the greatest participation in VAMOS! will share 25% of race profits. When you register for the race, you choose the school for which you elect to run, whether you're a student there, a faculty member, or anyone else who chooses to support that school with his or her efforts.

Third and last, this race has perks for all who register! Fitness Specialist and Trainer Clarence Duhart of CD Fit has donated a free month's trial membership for everyone who participates in the race. Also, all adults who register for the race are automatically entered in a raffle to win a year-long health club membership at the LivingWell Health Club in Dupont Circle (value $1,200; 2 available).

Please do come join the fun! The registration website is http://www.vamos5k.com. The race is on Sunday, March 6. The early bird registration rate ends this Saturday, February 19.  DC public school and public charter school students and teachers may register for only $5. There are volunteers available to answer questions -- just email wendy.jacobson @ verizon.net or ma.elena.nawar @ gmail.com.
