The Friends of Forest Hills Playground are putting on a very creative fundraising event for parents and kids this coming Sunday. All proceeds will go towards playground maintenance.
The activities are geared toward children ages 2-8 and will take place on Sunday, March 13 from 2-5 PM at Franklin Montessori School, 4473 Connecticut Ave NW.
Children can attend one or both sessions and each session lasts for 45 minutes:
Creative Movement for Children
2:15 - 3:00 PM ages 2-3
3:15 - 4:00 PM ages 4-6
4:15 - 5:00 PM ages 6-8
Hands on Cooking for Children and Parents
2:15 - 3:00 PM ages 3-5
3:15 - 4:00 PM ages 6-8
The cost is $20 per child, $25 for 2 children from the same family, $30 for three children from the same family. Parents can leave their children ages 5 and up, though the cooking class is for both parents and kids. The amount is fully tax deductible.

Forest Hills Park is the only outdoor facility in Ward 3 without a recreation center, and so unlike other parks, it don't have a central building. This little neighborhood gem, located at 3200 Chesapeake Street, NW (east of Connecticut Avenue) has hosted thousands of toddlers since the community rebuilt it in 2001. This past year, the Friends group paid for repairs to the equipment, secured new swings, received an ANC grant for a solar compactor to control trash, and this spring, will be replenishing the sandbox. Donations to support any of these projects are very much welcome!
