Protecting your Teen's Brain from Stress, Sleep Deprivation, and Harmful Influences: April 13 Forum


Research at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) has found the adolescent brain is not a finished product, but still developing during the teen years. Learn how this research has critical implications regarding emotion regulation, impulse control, decision making, and in the development of optimal learning strategies. Parents will leave with a better understanding of their teen and effective new ways to parent during these tumultuous times. Dr. Catherine McCarthy is a child and adolescent psychiatrist in a private practice. She completed medical school at the University of Virginia and her residency at Duke University. She currently serves on the Executive Council of The Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Society of Greater Washington.
