Severe Thunderstorm Watch for DC Area Until 9pm

Photo from Wikimedia Commons
The Washington, DC area is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9pm. A watch means that conditions are favorable for the possible formation of severe thunderstorms. (A watch does not mean that thunderstorms are present.) Severe thunderstorms can produce 1 inch diameter hail, wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour, and dangerous lightning. You can view a map of the watch area and get the latest updates from the National Weather Service.
