Turn the Dupont Circle Metro into a Gym

What does it take to get people to walk more, and ride escalators less? (A typical person burns about 10 calories a minute walking up stairs. Not much, unless you're surfacing at Dupont Circle, but certainly more than than you burn just standing there on the escalator texting.

How do you get people to use stairs, rather than take the escalator? One way is the "WMATA Method" -- just don't have them work. Or...this idea is rather creative:
