Just ran through the Mall in DC. Lots of tourists OBSESSED with squirrels--videotaping, photographing them, as if they'd never seen one!

Why does MPD have its name? B/c when created in 1861, had jurisdiction over all of "metro DC": Washington City, G'town and; Washington County.

dc police chief says crime is down in city but that's pushed crime to metro and policing the train and bus system is difficult.
