A Tip from Councilmember Mary Cheh on Dealing with Dead Animals

Recently, neighbors have come across dead birds in the neighborhood.  Please do not touch them.  The proper course of action is to contact the citywide call center by dialing 311.  The operator will either take the report and give you a confirmation number, or connect you with Solid Waste Collection and someone there will take the report.  Either way you should be given a confirmation number.

The city does not collect dead animals from private property.

See a dead animal, call 311.
