Saturday, July 13 from 10 AM - 5 PM, French Festival at Hillwood, Celebrate both France's national holiday and Hillwood-founder Marjorie Merriweather Post's passion for 18th-century French decorative arts with dance performances, live music, French inspired games and art projects, and much more Francophile fun! Saturday, July 13 and Sunday July 14 from 11 AM - 7 PM, Pet Adopt-a-thon of the Washington Animal Rescue League, with more than 150 cats, dogs, puppies and kittens available at a reduced fee.  And Adopters can have all fees waived by winning a beanbag toss contest! Sunday, July 14 at 2 PM, Cafe Paul French bakery hosts its 3rd annual Bastille Day Baguette Relay Race, and other fun activities. Free. At 801 Pennsylvania Ave, NW. More info at http://bit.ly/12uXkIy

Monday, July 15, 11 PM - 12 Midnight. Bat Watching at Dupont Circle. Dupont Circle has a lot of interesting characters, but none as interesting as the city's bats. Bats are our friends. They eat bugs and more bugs. They provide fodder for many movies and novels. Meet at the center of Dupont Circle at 11 PM for an hour of natural wonder. And speaking of novels, chalk this event up to fiction, too, because it's the weekly fake event.
