Get Out! NO KINGS DAY (Oct 18) is the time for all of us to stand up for Democracy in America....and in DC!

 by Peggy Robin

Sticking to the CP Listserv's focus on local matters, I present information about tomorrow's events to rally Americans across the country to stand up for democracy and the US Constitution.

We gather in DC to voice our support for our own right to govern ourselves here in DC (and allocate our own tax dollars!) -- in addition to the nationwide call to restoreConstitutional checks-and-balances and protest would-be King Trump's seizure of all power over: federal spending, government employment, federal prosecution, medical and scientific research, and his attempt to criminalize all types of free expression that were formerly not subject to presidential whims.

FREE DC is the local organization calling for tomorrow's rally:

No Kings Rally for DC

Washington, DC 20004

Here are some other actions taking place at other locations in an around DC:

DC Citizens will be joining the DC Activist Street Band and marching from the American History Museum to the Indivisible Stage.
  • We will meet directly in front of the AMERICAN HISTORY MUSEUM.
  • We will be on the Mall side - Madison Street between 12th & 13th.
  • There are chairs, shade, and porta potties.
  • The band will start warming up at 10:30 and we will start our walk at 11AM.
  • It is a .75 mile walk which will take about 20 minutes.
  • This location is next to the Smithsonian Metro and it's a 13 minute walk from Metro Center.
  • DC Citizens will be dressing as Founding Fathers and other historical figures and will be passing out the Declaration of Independence. We'll be linking the declaration to a webpage that shows the comparisons between the founding of America and what we are facing today.
