Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DC Area Until 5:15PM

Update: The severe thunderstorm warning has been cancelled for the DC area, but the threat of storms will continue until around 9pm.

HOWARD COUNTY IN CENTRAL MARYLAND...
EASTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY IN CENTRAL MARYLAND...
NORTHWESTERN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY IN CENTRAL MARYLAND...
NORTHERN PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY IN CENTRAL MARYLAND...
NORTHEASTERN FAIRFAX COUNTY IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA...
SOUTHWESTERN BALTIMORE COUNTY IN NORTHERN MARYLAND...
BALTIMORE CITY IN NORTHERN MARYLAND...

* AT 428 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.  THESE STORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM 9 MILES NORTH OF OLNEY TO OLNEY TO BETHESDA...AND MOVING EAST AT 35 MPH.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...


THIS LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS HAS A HISTORY OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. SEEK SHELTER INSIDE A STURDY STRUCTURE AND STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS.
