Still Life With Robin: Pumpkin-Palooza!

by Peggy Robin

If you haven’t carved your pumpkin yet, maybe it’s because you need some inspiration. The “Trumpkin” Donald-Trump-faced pumpkin is all the rage this year, and you might want to pile on. To see some of the most creative pumpkin-based portraits, see:

If you want to do something different, try painting or decoupage instead of carving:

If you want to think outside the round orange gourd, apply your art to other vegetables or fruits.

And now for a little post-Halloween news you can use:

To donate your leftover Halloween candy to Operation Gratitude, delivering packages of candy to our service men and women overseas, you can drop the goods off Sunday, November 1 through Tuesday, November 3 at the front porches of:

4820 Dorset Avenue; Chevy Chase, MD
or
4104 Franklin Street in Kensington, MD

If anyone is collecting donated Halloween candy closer to Cleveland Park, please feel free to post the drop-off instructions on the ClevelandPark Listserv or leave the drop-off instructions as a comment, below.

  1. If you have any leftover Halloween candy, please consider donating it for Wounded Warriors -- wounded, ill, and injured troops, veterans, and their families and staff in D.C. area military hospitals. Candy may be dropped off through Sunday, November 8.

Drop-off location is my English-Tudor style house at 2939 Newark Street NW, behind the Uptown Theater and about 500 feet west of Connecticut Ave. We have a covered porch.

As many of you know, my husband (“Clown Gary”) and I (“Clown Judy”) volunteer regularly as clowns at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC); the Washington, DC, Veterans Administration Medical Center; and for various local non-profit organizations.

Thanks very much on behalf of our military men and women! If you have any questions, please email me at JKOPFF at AOL dot COM.
