As we come down to the end of a year most of us would like to forget, we are
almost ready for the annual recap of best Listserv posts of the year, known since 2015 as the CLEVELAND PARK LISTIES.
This year has been different from all others....and not in a good way. So of
course, the Listies will be different in some ways, too. In addition to our
usual categories (Best Query; Most Helpful or Creative Advice; Best Sale or
Giveaway Item; Best Long-Running Discussion Thread; Best Animal Story; and Post
of the Year), we are thinking of including some pandemic-related Listies, such
as "Best tips on where to find scarce supplies" "or "Posts
about testing sites with the shortest lines." We're taking suggestions,
too!
Another difference. There will be no flashy, glam live awards ceremony this
year. No red carpet with the gowned and bejeweled nominees posing for the
paparazzi; no buzz on Twitter about the odds-on favorites to take the top
Listies; no cheek-kissing, no after-parties packed with celebrities dancing
till dawn..... (not that we ever had any of that in past years....but at least
it would not have been forbidden!)
We'll be spending all this week looking back over the 14,100+ posts that were
on the CP Listserv in 2020 to select the best of the bunch -- but please feel
free to nominate your favorites. Self-nominations are OK! You can send them to
me off-list at moderator @ cleveland-park.com .
Next Saturday, December 19: "And the nominees are....."
The following Saturday, December 26: "And the Listy goes to....."
