A Bear Trees in Brookland?
It's a Bear Market?
Grin and Bear It?
How to Handle Bear-er Bonds?
The Un-Bear-able Lightness of Being (in Brookland)
Gotta come up with a snappy, punny headline for this week's column, playing on the story of The Three Bears who, in three separate incidents featuring one each time, visited Brookland, Rockville, and Bethesda, respectively. Were these Bad News Bears? Bear with me.....
If you've been hibernating for the past week and a half, and haven't even heard the bear minimum of news from cub reporters, here are some quick links to recap the bear facts of each case:
1. Brookland Bear: https://dcist.com/story/23/06/09/black-bear-found-in-d-c-neighborhood/
3. Bethesda Bear: https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/maryland/another-bear-spotted-bethesda-maryland/65-14ce928f-ca9d-45a2-b9c5-7fcc13188f50
The Brookland bear -- the one flatteringly photographed up a tree -- ultimately came down on his own and wandered across Franklin Street, near Rhode Island Avenue NW -- leading, logically enough, to the bestowal of the name, Franklin.
In a fast-thinking and clever fundraising tactic, the Washington Humane Rescue Alliance (the wildlife protection organization that sent bear experts to tranquilize and relocate the Brookland Bear) have come out with a "Franklin the Brookland Bear" T-shirt. You know I can't resist saying it....BEAR-RY CUTE!!
Comes in 5 colors and full range of styles and sizes. $24.99
Makes a great Father's Day present (though it will arrive a little late!)
