(This is the easiest part of the Listies awards to write. I just copy and update what I wrote as the introduction to "The Cleveland Park LISTIES Are Coming" last year.)
Each year (since 2012!) we give out awards for the best CP Listserv post in a variety of categories. All year long I've been keeping a list of my favorites, but I love hearing from Listserv members who've been doing the same.
If you haven't been keeping a list but have a vague memory of a great post from on the Listserv in 2024, you can look it up in the archives by keyword or by the name of the poster (if you remember it). Search instructions are here: http://www.cleveland-park.com/searching-the-archives.html
The categories may vary a bit from year to year but if we can come up with five solid nominees in each category, we'll give out Listies for the following "bests":
- BEST GIVEAWAY
- BEST ANIMAL STORY
- BEST QUERY OR ISO POST
- BEST ADVICE OR MOST CREATIVE WAY TO SOLVE A PROBLEM
- BEST LONG DISCUSSION THREAD
- PHOTO of the YEAR
- POST OF THE YEAR
And when I say we'll give out Listies, I do mean a physical object that you can display proudly on your mantel, right next to your Oscar, your Emmy, your Grammy, and your Olympic gold medal. OK, it's going to be a bit small in comparison to those other trophies, but if you own a nice dollhouse, it's the perfect size! And while it's not a big object, it is made out of the finest and shiniest gold plastic -- 100% recyclable, too! (So don't throw it in the trash, if you win it but you don't want it!)
The Cleveland Park LISTY Award:
It's a "like" button made of
100% recyclable gold plastic
It's only the third year that we've had an actual trophy to hand out, which makes the CP Listy a rare prize indeed!
