Christine O'Donnell Watch: Lying is Always Wrong, Even if it Might Save a Life

Because we don't have representation in Congress, it's only fair that we get to choose a nearby Congressional race to watch and report about. We choose the United States Senate race in Delaware starring Christine O'Donnell, the Republican nominee and Tea Party candidate. O'Donnell, who has the full support of her party, is worth keeping an eye on: Though O'Donnell's prospects are dim, the unexpected can happen in American politics. Her views are extreme, her background complicated and unclear, and her utterances sometimes, well, looney. I'm sure that she'll continue to amuse us through November.

In 1988, during an interview on Politically Incorrect, when asked about Bill Clinton's lying, she said that lies and exaggerations are always wrong. Bill Maher pressed the issue and asked if it would be all right to lie if you were hiding Jews in your house from the Nazis.  O'Donnell said: "If I were in that situation...God would provide a way to do the right thing...I believe that! You never have to have this deception." Watch the video here and stay tuned to this space for updates on US Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell.

  1. The Delaware News Journal today posted side-by-side pics of her and Palin.. And she looks like she really wants to be a Sarah Palin clone. Oh God. Why has thou forsaken Delaware?

  2. Cruel comment and article. It never ceases to amaze me that if one disagrees with someone, instead of not only showing perhaps she made a gaff (but don't we all), the 'making fun' of them also has to be included.

Can't we keep it at a mature level, and leave snide remarks at home?

    Thank you.

  3. ...perhaps she made a gaff...

Her statements expose O'Donnell's radical right-wing views on social issues. And she seems rather proud of being so far to the right. I'm glad her views are being revealed here.

  4. Sure, I agree, but snide remarks only incite confrontation. If people have opposite views, it can be discussed on a level that needn't go to name calling or cynicism .
    Thank you.

  5. I think it's perfectly fair to characterize Christine O'Donnell's views as radical and right wing. She's well out of the mainstream of American politics. Frankly, I think she's not smart and not qualified to be a United States Senator. Watching the video of her in this post has convinced me that she's 50 percent publicity hound and 50 percent a nut.

  6. Was with you until 'nut.'
    Oh, well.
    Peace.

  7. Karl Rove himself called some of O'Donnell's views "nutty." That's the exact word he used. For the first time ever I agree with Rove.
