Recommended: Music Stores

Our companion email list, the Cleveland Park Listserv, is a treasure trove of recommendations. We want to share on All Life Is Local, on a periodic basis, the best recommendations that have been posted on the Cleveland Park Listserv. You'll be able to search All Life Is Local for "contractor," "plumber," "computer tech," "auto body shop" -- whatever you need. The search box, in case you have trouble finding it, is to the right and down a bit.

A great local store for everything music, especially family music, is Middle C, which has guitars designed for child size hands and even a Rock & Roll class, taught by Mark Noone, to learn how to play in a group with an emphasis on playing music for enjoyment, plus guitar teachers so that your 6 year can learn to play.

And Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center in Wheaton carries beginner kits, which are only about $200 for the guitar kits (guitar, cord, amp, & instruction video). You can check them out in person rather than stuck buying online.

Definitely consider Atomic Music store for used instruments.  I've only been to the Beltsville store, which had a fairly large selection, and they also have a Rockville store.  I only remember seeing full-size instruments, but they might also have kid-size, suggest calling ahead. They have a really cute picture on their home page of a toddler playing drums.
