Neighborhood Crime Watch: Armed Robbery at Medium Rare and Car Break-ins

From the crime reports from this past weekend, submitted by MPD Officer Victor Braschnewitz, these three incidents stood out. One was an armed robbery at the Cleveland Park's new steakhouse, Medium Rare. The other two are thefts from auto. 


On Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 12:25 a.m. a Robbery While Armed (Gun) of an Establishment offense occurred in the 3500 block of Connecticut Avenue, NW (PSA 204) and was subsequently reported to the MPD. [The restaurant was subsequently identified as Medium Rare.]

The reporting person stated that while counting up money, an unknown suspect entered the premises through the rear door, pointed a gun at two of the employees and demanded money. After being given the money, the suspect fled through the front door and then in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as an unknown race/male, 27-35 years of age, 5'8" - 5'11", 175-190 lbs., wearing a black jacket, black pants and armed with a pistol (possible 38 calibre).

Between Friday, April 08, 2011, 7:45 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. a Theft/Two from Auto offense occurred in the 2400 block of Porter Street., NW (PSA 204) and was subsequently reported to the MPD.

The victim reported that while their vehicle sat parked and unoccupied, an unknown suspect(s) smashed in the passenger window. Once inside they stole a travel bag containing various personal items. There is no lookout for this offense.

Between Friday, April 08, 2011, 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 9, 2011, 1:00 a.m. a Theft/Two from Auto offense occurred in the 1300 block of 19th Street, NW (PSA 208) and was subsequently reported to the MPD.

The victim reported that while their vehicle sat parked and unoccupied, an unknown suspect(s) smashed in the passenger window. Once inside they stole a gym bag containing various electronic devices and personal items. There is no lookout for this offense.
