This Is It: The Final Day of Verizon's Weather and Time Services

We warned you that this day was coming. And now it's here: It's the last day you can hear any of those friendly voices on Verizon's weather line (202-WE-6-1212) delivering the day's forecast, or find out precisely what time it is "at the tone."

We called for protests and emails to beg Verizon to reconsider, but apparently to no avail. Enjoy the recordings for the last time today, and then farewell, Time and Weather.  We'll say goodbye with a special nod of thanks to Keith Allen, the "gravelly-voiced man," who oversaw all the weather service recordings, and Neal Pizzano, whose eternally bouncy "Good morning!"s and announcements of wacky holidays were much beloved and will be much missed.
