But every now and again there's something a little out of the ordinary up for grabs. Here are some of the most interesting ones from just the past 12 months:
big juicy crickets (to feed to a pet snake or lizard)
a worm farm
a one-and-a-quarter ton hydraulic jack
children's bowling balls
a 1940's ceramic stove
an old Burroughs adding machine
a shortwave radio
a webcam
jelly jars
mason jars
sand for a sandbox
My Little Ponies (we hope these are toy ponies!)
a 4 ft. x 6 ft. greenhouse
a 20 gallon fishtank (no fish)
elderberry liqueur
Haggadahs (or is that Haggadot?)
a bird cage
a trampoline
kitchen cabinets
shawal kamis (traditional Pakistani dresses)
font balls for an IBM Selectric II
landscaping rocks
flowers (day lilies, chrysanthemums)
a pair of parakeets
I run a Freecycle group in MD, and we've had some strange offers: a house, a doublewide trailer, horse trailer, 2 tons of fill dirt, 700 baby food jars (really? I want to see the size of THAT kid!) 28 boxes of tile (what were they thinking?!?) a dictaphone, punch card machine, 4 flat tires and a shredded spare, a fishing boat with a huge hole in the bottom. Honestly, I could go on and on! :o)
