From time to time on All Life Is Local, we like to post a compilation of recent, helpful recommendations on a particular topic on the listserv -- in this case, plumbers (sub-categories: prompt & reasonable).

I would like to recommend Mallick Plumbing, (301) 840-5860 in Gaithersburg. We have used them for over 5 years now and have never had any problem. They show up on time (mostly early). We had a major plumbing issue 4 years ago and they were the *only* plumber that returned our call within 10 hours (we called *every* 24 hour emergency plumber in the book). They have done the work on time and always at a fair price.

I would recommend Benny Gartrell (Office: 301-421-9088; Cell: 301-385-0944). He is a one man show with his son and he is "old school". He does not rush, he does good work and he is reasonably priced. I have used him on repairs, one renovation and one addition and he has always been great.

Kyle Habel came to my condo yesterday and snaked a bathtub drain for me. The cost was $75 and he showed up exactly when he said he would. I use RL Voight for plumbing. They are in Kensington. Stephanie is the receptionist. I usually request Greg -- one of their best. Several of us use this company and all have been pleased. 301-946-6100.

For plumbers, try O'Neil plumbing, 703-655-0071. Shannon and his team are awesome, they show up when they say they will (or early!) and are great at what they do. Mention you found them on Yelp for a discount if you pay by check or cash.

available in addressing any requests for repairs that range from plumbing to HVAC, which makes it very convenient, as you can get all the related services in one call.

Main Line Sewer and Drain (Ed, 301-422-7662) was recommended by 2 neighbors: One said: "He's very fairly priced, super nice and even came once without charging me because it was an easily resolved problem. He's done great work for us." The second said: "He is highly competent, prompt, and extremely nice. After trying a number of different (and variously indifferent or unsatisfactory plumbers or plumbing
companies where a different person comes each time), we found him and have used him for years."
