Compilation of Plumbers Recommended for Promptness and Price

All Life Is Local has a companion listserv, www.cleveland-park.com, which regularly receives queries from members looking for recommendations. From time to time on All Life Is Local, we like to post a compilation of recent, helpful recommendations on a particular topic on the listserv -- in this case, plumbers (sub-categories: prompt & reasonable).

---

I would like to recommend Mallick Plumbing, (301) 840-5860 in Gaithersburg. We have used them for over 5 years now and have never had any problem. They show up on time (mostly early). We had a major plumbing issue 4 years ago and they were the *only* plumber that returned our call within 10 hours (we called *every* 24 hour emergency plumber in the book). They have done the work on time and always at a fair price.

---

I would recommend Benny Gartrell (Office: 301-421-9088; Cell: 301-385-0944). He is a one man show with his son and he is "old school". He does not rush, he does good work and he is reasonably priced. I have used him on repairs, one renovation and one addition and he has always been great.

---

Real Plumber has always been prompt: 301.567.2001

---

Kyle Habel came to my condo yesterday and snaked a bathtub drain for me. The cost was $75 and he showed up exactly when he said he would. (The plumbing business that I hired last year to do the same job charged $160) In addition, I called mid-day Wednesday and he was able to come the very next day. Kyle Habel, 240-821-2514.

---

I highly recommend Carl at James A. Wheat & Sons: Very professional, very knowledgeable, shows up on time and does the job the right way (no cutting corners). 240-399-5037.

---
I use RL Voight for plumbing. They are in Kensington. Stephanie is the receptionist. I usually request Greg -- one of their best. Several of us use this company and all have been pleased. 301-946-6100.

---
For plumbers, try O'Neil plumbing, 703-655-0071. Shannon and his team are awesome, they show up when they say they will (or early!) and are great at what they do. Mention you found them on Yelp for a discount if you pay by check or cash.
---
I strongly recommend Mark Norton, M.E. Norton HVAC & Plumbing, cell 240-401-4041, office 301-570-6589. He is very knowledgeable and thorough. He provides sound advice and is promptly
available in addressing any requests for repairs that range from plumbing to HVAC, which makes it very convenient, as you can get all the related services in one call.

---

Beall Plumbers, www.beallplumbing.com, 703-266-2655. We've used Beall Plumbers for decades.

---

Foley Plumbing,  http://www.foleyplumbinginc.com/  I used them recently and was very satisfied with the work and price.

---

Guillermo Diaz, 410-253-809. We used his services twice recently and he was very competent, friendly and very reasonable in his prices. He works *after* his normal work hours.

---

Main Line Sewer and Drain (Ed, 301-422-7662) was recommended by 2 neighbors: One said: "He's very fairly priced, super nice and even came once without charging me because it was an easily resolved problem. He's done great work for us." The second said: "He is highly competent, prompt, and extremely nice. After trying a number of different (and variously indifferent or unsatisfactory plumbers or plumbing
companies where a different person comes each time), we found him and have used him for years."

---

O'Neill Plumbing (703) 655-0071, www.oneillplumbingservice.com. We've used O'Neil plumbing in the past and have been very pleased with their services. They work 24/7, and the owner, Shannon, is excellent (as are all his staff).

Recommended: Plumber

Our companion email list, the Cleveland Park Listserv, is a treasure trove of recommendations. We want to share on All Life Is Local, on a periodic basis, the best recommendations that have been posted on the Cleveland Park Listserv. You'll be able to search All Life Is Local for "contractor," "plumber," "computer tech," "auto body shop" -- whatever you need. The search box, in case you have trouble finding it, is to the right and down a bit.

I have a terrific plumber. He's a master plumber and a master electrician. I'm not sure there's anything he can't do. Incredibly thorough, and reasonably priced: Jim Williams 703-409-1547. He'll take calls on weekends and evenings.

If you are in need of a plumber, this is to highly recommend Guillermo Diaz, whom I learned of thanks to this listserv. We recently returned from a short trip to find that a small leak in a second floor pipe was causing water damage to the ceiling below it. I called Mr Diaz at 9:00 am on Friday morning and he was able to come to our house at noon.  After a lengthy search he was able to find the apparent source of the leak. He then returned this morning with the necessary pipe and tools and spent several hours carefully replacing the defective pipe. He was extremely conscientious and pleasant, and at $75/hour his service is a great deal. Apparently Mr. Diaz is considering setting up his own business --he works for a larger plumbing firm and does projects on the side - so I encourage people in the neighborhood to use him.  I have two numbers for him: 410-253-8097 and 202-431-7273.

Recommended: Plumber/Handyman

Our companion email list, the Cleveland Park Listserv, is a treasure trove of recommendations. Need a plumber at 10am on Sunday or an electrician who can wire up your home fusion reactor? The Cleveland Park Listserv will  let you find that person.

While it would be overwhelming to post all of the recommendations for home repair people on All Life Is Local, we wanted to share with you, on a periodic basis, the best recommendations that have been posted on the Cleveland Park Listserv. We had a non-draining bathtub problem solved by plumber/handyman Kyle Habel, 240-821-2514. Kyle was formerly with a big plumbing company and is now an independent contractor. We found him about a year ago when we had a drain problem and called several plumbing companies and found we'd have to wait several days before a visit from any of them, but Kyle was available the next day -- even though it was a Saturday. He charges by time and material, so there's no danger of having to pay a big, fixed fee for what turns out to be 15 minutes of work. He's also pleasant and courteous.

Plumbers, Electricians, Computer Techs, Oh My -- And Recommending a Great Plumber

Many people on the ListServ have taken my May 2009 suggestion to use our plumber, Guillermo Diaz. He came by again last week to repair some plumbing problems in our house and told us that his cell phone number has changed to (410) 253-8097. (One neighbor had just told me that she had been trying to reach him for several weeks but that his old phone number didn't work.)
Guillermo works part-time for a plumbing company and then freelances on his own after 2 or 3 PM, assisted by his two nephews, both of whom are also employed as plumbers by the same company that employs Guillermo. He charges $75 per hour, and that price includes the help of one or both of his nephews (depending upon whether he thinks one or both are needed). He is very reasonably priced. He is also very trustworthy, cheerful, and reliable.
