Sat, Feb 11: One City Summit: Group Brainstorming to Improve DC

We're passing along this announcement from the Mayor's staff in the hope that some genuinely fresh ideas for improving DC will come out of this event. We should add that attendees will get a free lunch.

What:  One City Summit
When:  Sat., Feb. 11, 9:30am - 4:00pm
Where: Washington Convention Center
801 Mount Vernon Place NW

Mayor Gray's One City Summit will take place on Saturday, February 11th at the Washington Convention Center and it is important to get the word out to people in Ward 3 who may be interested in attending. As you may have already heard, the purpose of the One City Summit is to get input from citizens about what the District's priorities should be and, in particular, to explore ways to make Washington, DC a more livable, vibrant and inclusive place for everyone.  It will be a rare opportunity for people from all parts of the city to get together, learn from each other and explore ways to work towards common goals.
The Summit will engage a thousand or more District residents in an innovative dialogue format where participants learn about issues, talk together in small groups, brainstorm about new ideas and vote on priorities through the use of electronic keypads.  In order for the Summit to truly represent Washington, DC, it is important to have strong participation from people of all age groups, income levels, ethnic groups and neighborhoods.  At this point, we are a low in pre-registration from people in Ward Three and need your help to make sure that our neighbors and others who live in our part of the city participate.
I hope you will register to attend and also pass this information about the One City Summit to anyone you think may be interested.  Please let people know that they can get more information and register to attend at www.onecitysummit.dc.gov.  Thanks for anything you can do to help get the word out about this important event in the life of our city.
