Still Life with Robin: Happy National Egg Day!

by P(egg)y Robin

I wish I had posted this column early in the morning instead of in the evening, so that you could have had all day to celebrate NATIONAL EGG DAY.

How do you celebrate NATIONAL EGG DAY? By eating eggs (duh!), cooked however you like. Eggs are not just for breakfast, either. You can have egg salad for lunch and any number of egg-based main courses for your dinner. As it's too late to plan your meals for National Egg Day 2023, you might want to save these 3 ideas for National Egg Day 2024 -- or any time between now and then:

One-pan Chorizo & Egg Dinner:

Shakshuka:

Three-Cheese Quiche
....which is the perfect segue into the next national food day, happening tomorrow, June 4: It's NATIONAL CHEESE DAY.

Here's how this day is described on the National Days website
"June 4 is National Cheese Day. Not to be confused with other popular cheese related holidays like grilled cheese sandwich day (April 12), cheesecake day, (July 30), or mac and cheese day (July 14). This day is in reverence of the queen of all dairy, the big cheese."

But wait! National Egg Day is not quite over! So you might want to spare a few minutes of reverence for The Egg: Nature's Perfect Invention by watching either -- or both -- of these two short promotions for the David Attenborough documentary of that name:

If you have a Roku device with the Kanopy channel, you can stream the full episode for free:
It's the perfect finale for National Egg Day.
