It's been two years since there were any in-person, official Cherry Blossom Festival events. Now's the time to make up for it!

Start here to see the whole schedule of activities - most of them free and without reservations.

My pick for the "Get Out!" event of the week is the free, outdoor celebration taking place in front of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

SAAM Cherry Blossom Family Celebration

Join the Smithsonian American Art Museum to celebrate the start of cherry blossom season!

Bring the whole family and enjoy:

* Live musical performances, including traditional Japanese taiko drumming with Nen Daiko
* A koto performance by Masayo Ishigure and the Miyabi Koto Shamisen Ensemble
* An all-vinyl music set of Japanese soul, funk, boogie, pop, and disco by Les the DJ.
* Pick up a step-by-step cherry blossom craft kit to take hom
* Discover spring-themed artworks in SAAM’s galleries with a self-guided scavenger hunt designed for all ages.

Please note that this in-person program is weather-permitting.

Find more fun online with our Cherry Blossom Family Zone page with coloring pages, videos, spring crafts, and activities based on artworks from SAAM’s collection.
