I recommend Dr. Lynn McKinley-Grant. She's been our family's dermatologist since our daughters were in NCRC together nearly 20 years ago. She has accurately diagnosed and successfully treated everything from eczema to squamous cell carcinoma. "Love" would not be an overstatement: Lynn McKinley-Grant, MD, 5454 Wisconsin Avenue, #1275, Chevy Chase, MD 20815, 301-941-8166

Thank you to all my Cleveland Park neighbors for your prompt and helpful responses. A number of people asked me to pass on the information I received, so I have compiled it here. (I'd also like to note that one person recommended my current physician Dr. Vivian Fraga. I am also a huge fan of Dr. Fraga, but unfortunately, she does not currently accept BCBS PPO. If she did, I definitely would not switch providers.)

Reiter Hill and Johnson 1) "Melody Abraham (part of Reiter Hill and Johnson) is fantastic; I hear good reviews about the other doctors in the practice (particularly Dr. Busch) as well. They have offices in Dupont and Chevy Chase, as well as one in Falls Church."

(2) "I have BCBS/PPO, and after a very BAD experience with Dr. Lori Picco, I have been seeing Dr. Ferdouse Sartawi at the practice of Reiter & Hill for about a year and been very pleased. She sees patients at two offices, one downtown and one in Friendship Heights. She's young, but very patient, takes time to explain things and answer questions, and never seem in a hurry. She performed a surgery I needed last year and everything went well. The practice also seems to be managed well, and I've never had any scheduling or billing problems (knock on wood!). Information about the practice is at http://www.rhjn-obgyn.com/ , and their other contact info is below.

Downtown office 1145 19th St. NW Suite 410 Washington, DC 20036 (202) 331-1740

Friendship Heights office 5454 Wisconsin Ave # 1035 Chevy Chase, MD 20815-6918 (301) 654-5700"

(3) "I'm 35 and married with no kids and highly recommend Dr. Paula Radeki at http://www.rhjn-obgyn.com/staff/cvs/radecki.asp - I go to the Friendship Heights office which is very conveniently located with parking or right off the red line. She's got a terrific bedside manner and is very sensible."

(4) "I like the Reiter & Hill group (about 10 doctors). I go to Dr Kim McKanders in their Chevy Chase location, and i used to go to Dr Rebecca Busch at their downtown location. Both women are wonderful."

(5) "The whole practice at Reiter and Hill take that insurance. The have three locations. My favorite is Dr. Muangman but they are all great. 301.654.5700."

Dr. Safayan's been my doctor for many years and is great. He's on Blue Cross, Aetna, and Cigna's PPOs and takes Medicare (last I checked). Hospital Privileges: Providence, Sibley, Washington Hospital Center.

James A Simon, MD is the sort of doctor I wish all mine were. He is highly trained, does serious research and takes time with and listens to his patients. (202-293-1000, http://www.jamesasimonmd.com).

My family goes to Doctors Kerry and Michael Gray. They are a husband and wife team who run a walk-in clinic in Bethesda across from Bethesda Sport and Health. It's at  4314 Montgomery Avenue, on the one-way street that runs parallel to East West Highway. You can go anytime during business hours and some time on Saturday. The downside is sometimes there is a long wait. Kerry Gray has become our family doctor. We love her and she takes Blue Cross. Call the office at 301-951-3606 for more information.

We are seeing Dr. Asaf Mekonnen at Rockville Internal Medicine. He has been kind. His office number is 301-762-5020.

---

Dr. Morgan Delaney at Department of Medicine (GW) 2150 Penn. Ave. NW Washington, DC 20037 (202) 741-3333

---

Dr. Garry Miller: the practice is Capital Pulmonary Internists, 2440 M St., NW. 202-833-3000

---

Dr. Al Munzer -- I don't know if he takes medicare, but probably yes, but he is tops in the field and an extremely compassionate person. He is at Washington Adventist in Takoma Park, MD.

---

My pulmonary doctor is Eric Anderson, MD at Georgetown. My husband sees his wife, Dina KiaNoury, MD. Both are kind and compassionate physicians. Though both would work with a COPD patient, Dr. KiaNoury's schedule is a bit more open, and COPD is one of her special interests, too. Dr. Anderson's been doing a lot more critical care and pulmonary oncology work these days, but I don't see him for either of those issues. I have sleep apnea and asthma, so he sees me for those conditions. The phone number of the Pulmonary Department is: (202) 444-8830.

Try Dr. Mark Reiter with Reiter, Hill, et. al. He has a location in Chevy Chase (near Friendship Heights Metro) and another one downtown. I know he takes the FEHBP Blue Cross insurance. There are also several female doctors in this practice.

---

I really like Dr. Amy Kesselman in Bethesda. They take BCBS.

---

I would highly recommend Dr. Kathleen Bis. She has a small office on M st. and one in Rockville. Her administrators have been with her forever. She operates like she's your own doctor, extremely thorough, personable and when you leave her office, you feel well taken care of, for sure. Her number is 202.293.4100. And, she take BCBS.

Kathleen Bis at 2440 M St. NW is excellent: 202-293-4100.

I saw Dr. Syeda Moosvi earlier this year and really liked her.  My visit was in the Washington Hospital Center Internal Medicine clinic and it was right on time -- even with an afternoon appointment. 110 Irving Street NW, Suite 1A50, Washington, DC 20010, 202-877-2835.

FYI for others looking for a primary care doctor: MedStar (the parent organization of the Washington Hospital Center) has also just opened a primary care practice in Friendship Heights at 5454 Wisconsin Avenue.  It has extended hours (evenings & Saturdays) and takes almost all insurance.  It's a really nice office and I'd particularly recommend the head physician, Dr. Alphonse Mehany. They take walk-ins or you can make an appointment: 877-677-3627.
