DC Statehood Teach-In at the Capitol, June 9

The American Civil Liberties Union of the Nation's Capital is hosting a DC Statehood Teach-In on June 9th from 12:00pm to 9:00pm.

There will be:
  • Information tables
  • Testimonials from veterans, gun control advocates, those fighting for decent, affordable housing and against homelessness and more
  • Spoken word
  • A panel of experts
  • Live music
  • A candlelight vigil
Since 1801, Congress has denied the people of Washington DC representation in the House of Representatives and the Senate. Americans in all 50 states can vote to elect members of Congress -- DC residents are forbidden to do so. This means Washingtonians have no say in creating the policies that govern the United States--no say on health care, no say on national security, and no say on the economy.

More information can be found at www.aclu-nca.org or on the Facebook event. To help support this effort you can text "DC51" to 20222 to donate $10 to the ACLU DC Statehood Fund.
