All Life Is Local has a companion listserv, www.cleveland-park.com, which regularly receives queries from members looking for recommendations. From time to time on All Life Is Local, we like to post a compilation of recent, helpful recommendations on a particular topic on the listserv -- in this case, electricians.

I can recommend David Haim. He does small jobs and big. He is a licensed electrician who works for himself and sometimes has his 19-year old son help him on jobs. David's cell phone is 301-538-9192. He charges $85 per hour and did not charge us for his travel time. He was extremely efficient and knowledgeable and fixed all our issue within an hour. In addition, he arrived at the scheduled time!

We have used Stephen Palmer Electrician for the past 9 years. They have always been on time, very efficient, and polite. They are not the cheapest, but work with you. We did an upgrade a few years ago, and they told us that they would do what we wanted, but it would be better to do X, which would be better in the long term. I highly recommend them. John Koutsoulis (240-876-6002) did some work for us, rewiring a ceiling fixture and putting in a whole house surge protector, and we were quite pleased. He was very prompt, worked quick, was neat, got it done right the first time, and his fee was rather reasonable. And, yes, he came recommended from the Cleveland Park Listserv.

While it would be overwhelming to post all of the recommendations for home repair people on All Life Is Local, we wanted to share with you, on a periodic basis, the best recommendations that have been posted on the Cleveland Park Listserv. We had a non-draining bathtub problem solved by plumber/handyman Kyle Habel, 240-821-2514. Kyle was formerly with a big plumbing company and is now an independent contractor. We found him about a year ago when we had a drain problem and called several plumbing companies and found we'd have to wait several days before a visit from any of them, but Kyle was available the next day -- even though it was a Saturday. He charges by time and material, so there's no danger of having to pay a big, fixed fee for what turns out to be 15 minutes of work. He's also pleasant and courteous.

I can highly recommend John Koutsoulis: 240-876-6002 He's done numerous jobs for us, both big and small, and handled them all with skill and reliability. He's extremely competent and extremely nice. I think he's fairly priced , and delivers a great work product. He often goes that extra mile to do things in the way that makes the least damage for us. He'll carefully run wire in tight difficult places in order to avoid making holes in our walls or having visible wires, for example. He's been a pleasure to deal with. I know that others whom I've recommended him to have been equally pleased.
